About Me
Hello, my name is Mike and I am the owner and sole-proprietor of Stealth Computer Services. I started tinkering with my first computer way back when I was around 8 years old; it was an old Apple II handed down to me by my grandpa. I used that mostly to play games off of old 5" floppies and mess with a funny speech synthesis program. Years later, when I was about 12, I was handed-down an old Windows 95 PC and that's where the real fun started. I was at first fascinated by the fact that I could paint pictures on the screen using "MS Paint" and that I could record sounds using the microphone and edit them in "Sound Recorder". I even started recording my own video-game soundtracks back then in WAV format. I spent a lot of time on that old computer learning and tinkering with Windows 95 and finding my way around things, exploring options and features, etc. After a Hard Drive crash, I watched the broken drive being replaced by a Fry's employee and my grandpa gave me a copy of Windows 98 to install on the new "huge" 6.4GB drive. This computer stayed with me until around my senior year in high school in 2002 where I took an A+ prep class which taught me all about a computer's inner hardware and more in-depth knowledge about Windows and DOS.
Before the end of that year, I had purchased a brand new system, part by part, and built myself a brand new working computer with a 100GB hard drive, Intel Pentium 4 processor, and 1GB of RAM which I installed the new Windows XP Home Edition on. That was really an accomplishment for me, and I was really proud of myself for being able to pull that off. My experience with the new computer had me finding my own way out of many sticky situations dealing with Windows problems, hardware issues, driver problems, drive crashes, Windows suddenly killing itself off, virus infections, spyware battles, registry corruption, etc. You name it, I had to deal with it somewhere down the line and I always found my way out of it while continuing to build on my knowledge and experience with working and troubleshooting Windows and computer hardware. When friends and family would hear of my accomplishments and computer experience, I instantly became a celebrity and was flooded with requests for help on their computers. Quite often I would be unexpectedly handed a $50 or $100 bill for my work, and happily so, because even that amount is less than half of what they would have had to pay a local repair shop to do the same thing, not to mention the fact it was done by someone they knew and trusted.
Through my extensive experience in troubleshooting computers for friends, family, and myself, I can finally bring my skills and experience to the workforce and provide a service to those in need and make a living doing what I love!
As of February 2009, I hand-built my second system which I am using now, it is an AMD Phenom II system with a 10,000 RPM Velociraptor hard drive, 2GB 4GB of DDR2 RAM, and an entry-level video card (not a PC gamer) with good-old Windows XP Home again Windows 7. When I built this new system I focused on my last build's problem, cooling, and a pet peeve of mine, the Hard Drive Bottleneck. This new build has the world's fastest desktop drive and an air-cooled Antec 300 case with ultimate airflow. I built this system to the specifications of my own personal use and spent money where I needed it and saved money where I did not; another thing which I am proud to bring to the work force; custom computer systems built by hand specifically tailored for the user's needs. I am very happy with my new build and expect it to last for well over the 7 years my old one was running (still was running perfect when I upgraded) if need be.
There are people out there who may be car enthusiasts, who take pride in spending loads of time and money tuning, cleaning and upgrading making theirs the best it can be....others may be home-enthusiasts who thrive on designing, decorating, and renovating their home to suit their exact taste, never missing a single detail...and I am a computer enthusiast. For me it is the best feeling to have a perfectly designed system, tuned and maintained for top-notch performance and reliability with programs and gadgets to monitor and fine tune every piece of hardware and software in it. This is the kind of great feeling I want to bring to other computer owners so that they too can take pride in their system or at least have piece of mind that everything is secure, optimized, and well within their knowledge and control.
About My Company
I founded Stealth Computer Services on May 1st, 2009. My vision is for Stealth Computer Services to be a local household name someday that people remember for its quality, price, service, and honesty. I want Stealth to stand out from the crowd by offering true, old-fashioned customer service without all the fine print, hidden charges, quality cop-outs, and ridiculous prices. I believe I can make my vision come true because, as a Sole Proprietor, there is only the client and myself. I don't have to please any superiors or employees because there are none; the only person I have to please is my client.
In the future, I plan on keeping the company to myself with no employees, to keep things simple and affordable for everyone. Sure, I won't be able to operate much beyond the borders of San Diego County, but at least those I service will be able to continue to enjoy the quality, integrity, and affordability of my service; things which so commonly erode over time as a company gets larger and larger.
In the mean time my company is still very young and not well known. To be frank, with this business as my only source of income, I am struggling to make ends meet with such a limited amount of business. On top of that, running your own business means a lot of work, expenses, stress, no paid time off, and do not include any retirement or benefits whatsoever. When I get sick, I lose business. When I visit a doctor or dentist, it's 100% out-of-pocket. I promise you that my prices are not aimed at ripping my customers off or getting rich. I am simply trying to make a living, like all the rest of us, and charging very modest prices so that my customers can enjoy professional service for less. This can be clearly seen and proven by comparing the price of my services to the big-box corporations, and even most local shops!
The biggest way you can help as a client, even more than donating or giving me business, is to tell your family, neighbors, friends, co-workers, church family, and everyone you know that might need computer services, about my small business. I have a generous Referral Rewards program in place to give back to all existing clients willing to help me out. Another big way you can help is to rate and comment on my service. This helps to give prospective clients confidence about ordering from a company they've never heard of before and greatly improves my chances of turning a passer-by into a loyal client. I am very grateful to any of my clients willing to help out by referrals and feedback. The impact this has on my business is worth more than you will ever know; even making a monetary donation pales in comparison to what you can give me by simple word-of-mouth.
In closing, I want to take the time to thank all of my clients and anyone willing to read through all this text! Your time and business is the most valuable thing to me and I will always be grateful.
Thank you
Michael Anderson
